This study retrospectively assessed the rates of beta-blocker prescription in patients admitted to two Australian tertiary hospitals for acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This revealed that less than half of patients (45%) with known cardiac indications were receiving beta-blocker therapy, evident across all degrees of airways disease severity. Further work is needed to ensure that medical management of this patient group is optimised. | URI: | https://ahro.austin.org.au/austinjspui/handle/1/16619 | DOI: | 10.1111/imj.13240 | ORCID: | 0000-0003-1863-7539 | Journal: | Internal Medicine Journal | PubMed URL: | https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27813357 | Type: | Journal Article | Subjects: | COPD Beta-blocker Cardiovascular disease Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Drug Prescriptions Adrenergic beta-Antagonists Heart Failure |
